DESCRIPTION:Free Summer Motorsport Esports Academy for Ages 10-16\nThe Drive Lounge Summer Esports Academy caters to the passion and enthusiasm of students intrigued by the exhilarating world of virtual motorsport. Held in a dynamic and supportive environment, students delve into the intricacies of simulation racing, honing their driving skills, and mastering the art of strategy. Led by experienced instructors, each session offers a blend of practical sessions and theoretical discussions, covering topics ranging from optimal racing lines to vehicle setup customisation. Participants engage in friendly competitions, fostering social engagement and sportsmanship while fuelling their competitive spirit.\nTopics Covered\nIntroduction to Esports & SIM Racing \nWe give a brief overview of the gaming and esports landscape and the role SIM racing plays. Understanding how sim racing can be a pathway to real world motorsport not just as a driver but in wider roles in the industry. We explain how esports gives a good grounding in different skillsets such as analysis, problem solving and teamwork. Walk through the the technology used in SIM racing, the key components, how the work together and how technology has evolved.\nThe Physics of Esport Motorsport \nAchieving maximum performance in racing is a mixture of driving technique, physics, an awareness of the track and an understanding of the limits of the car. We work through the effects of resistance on speed, the correct use of acceleration and braking and the impact they have on the way a car behaves on a track.\nAerodynamics and Design\nUnderstanding modern design, we will explain how the shape of almost all elements of the car can influence the performance and critically the ‘downforce’ of the car to make it stick to the road and allow for faster speeds of acceleration and cornering. We finish with some discussion on car design and as a takeaway create a design and livery for a car.\n
